ABOUT ME
Classically trained musician
Apprentice trained technician
At the age of seven, I was a piano competition winner and a featured pianist with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra. Local piano lessons led me to Valparaiso University, where at the age of 12, I was accepted to study Classical Piano, Theory and Performance with Dr. Joseph Bognar. I remained with Dr. Bognar for 8 years until being introduced to Jazz Piano Studies with the great Roger Harris.
I’ve performed professionally in many venues and genres, across Chicago, South Bend and Northwest Indiana. I’ve been an accompanist for multiple singers and have played solo at public and private events. I’ve performed original music scores and been a featured pianist. I’ve received many notable awards through the years, am a singer/song writer and have taught piano as well.
As an artist with a strong musical background and exceptional aural skills, it has been only fitting that I would go on to study pianos from the inside out. A move to South Bend, Indiana led me to an apprenticeship with Master Piano Tuner and Technician, Stephen Merriman. who I worked with side by side, learning the intricate skills of my craft. Two and a half years later, I received my Certification in Piano Technology.
Through my hands-on training in the traditional classic form, I have demonstrated proficiency in piano diagnostics, tuning, moving, reconditioning, regulation, voicing, restringing and general maintenance.
I have great respect for this instrument, not only as an accomplished artist who has played for a lifetime, but for its complexities and intricacies, which are ageless and worthy of preservation.
